Traditional Costumes

Since its establishment, a major goal of the Lyceum Club of Greek Women of Lemnos has been to create a broad collection of exact copies of traditional costumes and jewellery from all around Greece. Our continually enriched wardrobe includes a wide range of traditional male, female and children’s costumes. Most importantly, the Lyceum Club of Greek Women of Lemnos has managed to create an impressive collection of local folk costumes after extensive research on the traditional clothing of Lemnos.

Stiches of Tradition

Our collection is often shown to the public in various performances and events the Lyceum Club of Greek Women of Lemnos organizes throughout the year. It is also put on display in the temporary exhibition “Stiches of Tradition”, whose aim is to showcase the wide variety of traditional costumes in Greece. The exhibition, which was held thanks to the contribution of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), is visited by students during the year as part of our special educational program for schools. The exhibition is also open to the public during the summer.
